F.A.Q.
Who?
I have a turntable and a nice record collection, mostly LP's from the 60's & early 70's.
What?
My aim is to make rare stuff (in glorious mono or sometimes stereo) publicly available again with the best possible sound quality.
Requests?
Generally, no. I select my projects very critically. Vinyl condition is everything. I tend not to work with records that are in less than pristine condition.
Donations?

Thanks very much for all the wonderful music you provide. The Kinks were a great band and it will very nice to listen to the different versions.
Hard to imagine being more excited about one of your projects than this one, but you outdo yourself time and again. Many thanks for your incredible effort. I'm going to play this one to death.
Thank You.Always Enjoyed This Album.it Makes My Glad To Know I'm Now Listening to it The way It Was meant To Be Heard. And Through Your Ears.God Save Prof. Stoned
A clean original mono copy? Expensive, indeed. Thanks so very much.
This is tremendous!! Thank you so much!
I love anything Kinks! Thank you.
An absolute dream of mine over the past few years was to have all the Village Green tracks in one place. Thank you for everything concerning this project. Very much appreciated!
Thank you so much! I have always wanted a copy of the original 12 track stereo so this is a dream come true.
Thank you very much for The Kinks!
This sounds fantastic! Usually brighter, yes, but it sounds 'right' since the vocals are quite neutral-sounding. It's a lot like your transfer of the Spanish Aftermath pressing, which makes it apparent that the recent mono reissue rolls off the high-end.
Thanks so much ,The Kinks have been a part of my life since I was introduced to them because I was a Jam fan many moons ago .I wish people like yourself were involved in the official releases but hey great work this sounds amazing .
Wow! An unbelievable collection! Thanks very much for all your work on this.
Thanks again Prof! So very grateful for all your hard work!!! I'm very much looking forward to hearing the different versions, especially the mono!
Thanks Prof 1967-1970 my favorite era of The Kinks. I do like the so called mixes of the era. But if the multi track tapes still existed I also wouldn't mind hearing remixes of this whole era. All that bouncing would end up in one place now. ( aka Sgt Pepper but done correctly mastering speaking ) These legendary recordings IMO are very significant and I think are due to be heard as they were originally recorded on multi track tape so you can hear all the original detail.
Bloody brilliant as always Prof
Many thanks!
@buttawitz: Apparently 'Johnny Thunder' is the only track for which they have all the multi's. They remixed it for the 2004 VG (sounds very nice) and again for the Anthology (less good).
Fantastic! Thanks, Prof!
Many thanks for an opportunity to hear this with the meticulous love and care you put into all your work. Priceless, and so much appreciated! hi-fi
Thanks Prof - I have all of this multiple times over but somehow still excited to hear it all again!
Thanks for another great post.
Truelly exhaustive presentation. Many thanks
My favorite Kinks era; one in which they really spread their wings. Thank you so much for this amazing presentation.
I had never given this album a complete listen until downloading your version. Thanks for your introduction to this record.
Holy Crap!!! I didn't know about all these versions and extra tracks!!! Major kudos to you, Prof! I'm downloading now, and will put the headphones on and vegetate while enjoying another great rip by you!!! Thanks!!!
Wonderful effort, thanks so much
Wow. This is a real treat to have all of this Village Green material in one package. Thanks so much!
Wow Prof, you've really outdone yourself! As a certified Kinks fanatic, you have my eternal gratitude.
thankyouthankyouthankyou!
On Part II, tracks 15 and 16 are reversed. Which track order do you prefer? I think "Living Room Light" should indeed come before "Where Did The Spring Go," and it is easy for me to fix myself. Thank you for your work mastering these.
Thanks again for your hard and pleasurable work , a real British summer treat!!!
@hungrypirate: An honest mix-up. As per the booklet of "At The BBC (2012)": 'Living Room' recorded Feb 4, 1969 & 'My Spring' on Jan 28, 1969.
Oh man this is glorious in MONO as I have been more often turning to an early CD of the Stereo to avoid the not so hot deluxe edition mastering style; but this album will always be the last Kinks album that is a must MONO for me so many many thanks
quite an undertaking fantastic sound
thank you
Great work, and much appreciated, as always. Great sound as usual
Thanks again for your fine work. As usual you make me appreciate mono more with each one of your projects.
I can't wait to hear this. The albums you've been uploading lately have been amongst some of my favorites. Love to hear these definitive versions.
- Joaquin Antique
These sound amazing! God Save The Kinks and God Save Prof Stoned!
Sounds very good. Thanks for posting.
Wow, what an undertaking here, tremendous work. I very much admire your approach to interesting releases and the quality you put into the posts.
I think I have most of this on vinyl, but it's very convenient to have it digitally as well! Just have to wait until the download traffic dies down before I can get the RAR files. Thanks Prof!
Wow. Just WOW. It's like you're in my mind, Good Prof. This particular lp...just a absolutely PERFECT choice, a lp that got lost in the massive release date of 11/22/68 (among others, that was the release date of the massive set of the Beatles' White Album), and thus didn't get the attention or praise it so clearly deserved...
Ok, i'm off on a free-associational binge of praise once again to you, so I'll just leave it here and get busy downloading.
"Thanks" just doesn't cut it, really, but thank you from the pit of my music lovin' heart, Prof. Stoned. Every time. Whoo HOOOOOOO :)
Thank you for putting all of these versions into one download. This will be in heavy rotation. Appreciate all that you do Prof Stoned!
I must have owned at least four or five different versions of this album on various formats (not to mention the Kronikles and Great Lost comps as well) but always found them sonically lacking in one way or another. What you've gathered together here is probably the best I've come across yet so a huge thanks for the time and effort you've put in putting this project together. Fantastic collection!
James
Beautiful! As others have shared, I have several versions of TK-TVGPS in my collection as well. I am absolutely positive that if you felt the need to put the work into assembling this project, that it will move to the top of my playlist and source for this late 60's classic. Thanks for all that you do!
Thanks for this and your hard work. I'm looking forward to having a good listen.
Thanks for this, love it
One of your best projects Prof. Stoned...thanks for the hard work!
Mr.Lowe
Thanks for this!
You also got a song title wrong, good sir. It's "Till Death US DO Part", not "Till Death DO US Part". A very common mistake.
Thank you for this Labour OF Love...
Fantastic post, gets my vote for best of the year ( so far).
A nice way to discover this superb album ! Thank you for your EXCELLENT+++ and hard work.
Maxime
One of my fave albums - thanks!
It's not that well known but the South African release had 16 tracks...they tacked the single mix of Days onto the end of side 1. Sound quality if quite average though.
Thanks, this looks extremely cool.
Superb work as always. Many thanks.
wow
thanks!
Amazing work! thanks.
Holy crap. THIS is beyond great, I run out of adjectives, but PLEASE know this one is a special treat indeed. Thanks just doesn't cut it, but THANKS nonetheless!!
:) :) :)
Thank you for everything you do, dude!
You have outdone yourself with this release Prof! Even if I could track down high-end copies of the albums used as sources, I doubt I could afford them. I did have to chuckle at using Golden Hour Of The Kinks as the source for 'Wonderboy' though - when I had this LP many years ago, the arm of my automatic turntable always picked up before the last minute or so of the last track on Side Two finished (they crammed far too many songs on to that side!). Thank you so much for sharing this great music - from sources so rarely heard - with all of us.
The Stones The Who The Beatles The Kinks and the Kinks never made it into the US Pantheon of Rock Gods as Arbited by the Rolling Stone magazine. It is a crime that the arbiters of rock godness have convicted the Kinks of the crime of being Too English
I disagree with the comment directly above. After 1966, England forgot about Kinks forever and it was American critical acclaim in the late 60's (including Rolling Stone) that made the Kinks a cult-band and allowed them to survive the nuclear winter. The Americans loved them precisely BECAUSE of their Englishness, not in spite of it.
Wow!! Thanks once again for all the amazing amount of work you've put into this. Due to the loss of tapes, I imagine we'll never hear it better. Awesome achievement!!!
Greetings and many thanks from sunny Scotland. I am a great admirer of The Kinks The Village Green Preservation Society.I appreciate your efforts and look forward to listening with new ears to this class album.
Incredible work! You are putting a service for true fans of music... This is amazing. Can't thank you enough, just incredible!
thank you very much!
Robert
Wow! Amazing,simply amazing. THANK you.
Thank you for making this record available in superior quality! I'm a big fan of this blog :)
Absolutely stunning work here. I've never heard VGPS with so much clarity before. And I've heard a lot of those in the recent years. The punchiness of Big Sky on Disc III is amazing and I liked you decided to maintain the high ends on it. Changes everything about the album in my mind. I hope you are able to reach more Kinks albums in the future. Something Else would be one with the greatest need of all after VGPS... Kudos!
You're the best!
Great work.. thank you! Great to hear these as an alternative to the modern mastering. You are quite the Kinks Kompletist. I agree, Something Else would benefit from this Kinda work.
Thanks for another great release Prof!
Many thanks for your excellent work. Greatly appreciated!
I have everything by The Kinks already (everything!!), but had heard people rave about your work so I had to hear it for myself.
They were right, thank you!!!
Looks fab! Any chance of a re-up of the high res?
Superb work as always. I got most of your files through http://twilightzone-rideyourpony.blogspot.com/
Where you posted many of them but not this one.
Many thanks for this great job.
Fred
I finally played it all. Fantastic effort and great music.
I miss your great uploads. Hope you are ok.
Even with the 50th Anniversary Edition, your rips and audio prowess will prove to be the Gold Standard when it comes to preserving the original intention of this Kinks masterpiece.
Thank you for striving for excellence and providing us with the pinnacle of what is the genuine article.
Professor -- thank you for all your hard work. The tracks sound fantastic.
Thanks mate
What a wonderful and inspiring job you do

Well, along with Face, Something & Arthur, yes.
As you said, this belongs in the Kinks pantheon with Face to Face, Something Else, and Arthur. Thank you for your efforts.
