  2. Prof,

You & JWB make a "killer" team when it comes to creating compilations. As always, I can't begin to express how grateful I am to be able to experience the BBC tracks in top notice fidelity.

Thanks again to you & JWB !!!

  8. Wow! I didn't know that 2nd gen tapes were used. I love Jimi's BBC sessions and this will be a treat. Many thanks Prof.!

  9. >More likely to be John Peel rather than Brian Matthew (not Matthews).

    Nope, it's Brian Matthew talking.

    >I didn't know that 2nd gen tapes were used.

Worse though, nearly everything on the EH is in fake stereo with added reverb.

  20. First time to hear this material where it doesn't sound cold and brittle and just plain nasty. Really enjoying this.

  37. I've found this makes a dandy companion to JWB's "Cream On The Radio" (2018 Version), in part because both are such a sonic upgrade from their official counterparts

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep, he did a swell job on that one.

  39. Wonderful sounding collection of Jimi's BBC recordings. I have a very large collection of Hendrix vinyl boots, including some, but not all of these tracks. For my money this is the definitive and best sounding collection of The Experience at The BBC. Thank you so much for putting this together for us die hard collectors!

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's amazing how much effort goes into these releases, thanks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just compared this to the BBC Sessions release, and your totally blows it away, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  42. This sounds terrific! Well done - we appreciate you and all of the work put into these projects. These are not only 50+ year old BBC recordings plus direct-to-mono, and your hard work shows through. Another reason why hard-core music fans get so upset when the powers-that-be won't put any effort into locating proper tapes and/or "polishing" them.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The above post applies to JWB as well.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks! Great sounding collection, but the outro to Fire (which seems to be an edit of two sources) is missing about a second of music.

    ReplyDelete
  45. RE: the last seconds of "Fire": my version is actually authentic and complete. The EH version was doctored; they have used the final notes from Purple Haze to mask the incomplete source they used.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Caused me to pull out and starting playing the 2CD set I compiled a few years ago, using a number of best sources, including several Westwood One CDs. Had a lot of fun de-clapping the now clap/don't clap song! Thank you again for all that you do!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you for this great post I love the BBC recording sessions.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is what EH should have come out from the beginning... Thank you !

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thank you :) These sound so much better ...

  50. ooo weee...i sure DON'T have the blues this morning, and I'm here to tell ya about it...

  72. Hey Prof Stone! Thanks so much for this, I only found it now. Thanks to Longjam for showing me the way. This is really great, I was never aware of the source history on these recordings! I have most of these tracks also as an off air reel recording from someone who lived in Berlin at the time, and taped it from British Forces Radio. They have slightly different spoken intros, but also feature Korner, etc as hosts....let me know if you are interested, I can wetransfer it for you. Cheers from Hamburg! Find me on DIME. Olve

  82. Thx for your work, these recordings are marvelous

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks Prof! I think I had most of this in various iterations but it's nice to have it all in one place. (Except the 6 min interview which I've never heard before!)
On a technical note, what in your opinion is causing the whistling sound during the Radio 1 jingle? I've alwa\ya wondered. Is it radio interference ot is it their equipment or something else?
