  7. Prof,
In the middle of my first listen and I am knocked out. The sound quality is outstanding !! Zeppelin's performance is nothing short of incredible. Being that it's 1971, It's a sheer delight to hear the whole band running on all cylinders. The fact that their performing songs from "IV" before it even came out is unreal ! I love that they don't stick to the confines of the upcoming album's arrangements ... they are wailing !!! Many, many thanks !!!!

Can't wait!! 2nd: I simply cannot be effusive enough. I'm almost in tears listening to this, it sounds so good. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, I know there are a lot of technical details in getting this to sound as good as it does, but Prof Stoned: you are an artist. :-) What you do is so valued by your listeners that you can never know (ha, but I'm trying ...) how truly thankful we are. This is just simply fantastic. Thank you so much!

Between this and JH - RAH, this has been a great year. :-D

  37. Thank you professor for the work you have done on this and many others I haven't gotten around to yet. Fantastic really. And I really like your idea of selecting the best parts of each show - a very nice package.

  38. Interesting that you describe the source for 929 as a rough mix of the multitrack. Never seen that suggested before; general feeling is that it's just a straight mono soundboard taken from the house desk on the night and is entirely discrete from the multitrack. The multitrack only circulates as a two-track feed made by a Japanese record company employee for 'personal use'.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It should be, the balance is too good for a P.A. mix. All those 70s LZ board tapes out there all suffer from guitar too soft and vox too loud. This one doesn't.

    ReplyDelete

    1. True, but it does sound very different to the two-track feed from the multitrack, which suggests a different source. Also, why would anyone rough mix the multitrack into mono? A mystery!
