Many thanks, be interesting to hear your take after listening to my own homebrew version for so long. Not sure the story about the organ not being recorded is actually true bearing in mind an excerpt from the organ solo prior to 'Thank You' was included as menu music on the 2003 DVD. I think the real reason 'Thank You' was excluded was because JPJ was unhappy with the way he played on it that night. As for 'Since I've Been Loving You', I guess there's a chance it wasn't recorded at all.
I obviously haven't heard the tracks but that fragment of Thank You where the drums come in seems to comfirm the claim to me. The organ cannot be heard on an isolated track, but rather seems to have been picked up from drum and vocal mics.
And I thought I could hear Thank you and SIBLY and I haven't thought in that way but it maybe true.. or they didn't capture Organ sound properly. >>I guess there's a chance it wasn't recorded at all.
Frankly, I didn't really mix all that much that, as Shirley's work was high quality to begin with. Mastering using demix would be a more accurate description. The most effort went it HMMT, to tweak the DVD source to sound similar to the rest, and of course the missing bits in it that were from an entirely different (less high quality) source.
Great work as always! It is possible to get a few extra seconds of Robert's intro to White Summer from the 5.1 audio on the DVD, isolating the middle channel which takes out the audience from Dazed in the final mix. I did have a go at this myself although I'm sure you could do it better
This is really good. An excellent testament of the band while they were still on their way up (the best time period for most band IMHO). The sound quality is outstanding, as always. Another banger!!! Thank you PS.
