  1. Swooooon. :D Nice to see another one of the fruits of your labors here, and so soon, too. I know that aksman (on Avax) ripped some Paul Butterfield, but those were the Sundazed stereo reissues.

(Interracial, indeed. I see not one, but TWO black men there! Makin' progress, America, but it would take a funky band from San Francisco to push that notion to the forefront...)

  2. Ah yes, Sly & Co. Been gettin' more into his works as off late. Maybe -who knows- I'll find a clean copy of the mono "A Whole New Thing" one day.

    1. Ooh! Didn't know you were a fan of theirs. I truly hope you have good luck with that. With mono copies of Sly/Fam's first two LPs being very hard to find, I've given up on that idea for now.

I've put more thought into my other idea, having a compilation of their mono 45s made. That seems more doable, IMO, as they're much more common on eBay (in fair condition, too). Plus, some of the 45 mixes have actually seen CD release, in great quality, too, no less (thank you Sony & Rhino). I don't have any actual way to get this done, however, it's just been an intense thought process and not much else. Maybe one day...

  4. Fantastic! One of my favorite albums ever, I have an ancient battered vinyl I bought when it was first released, it will be great to hear it properly again. Saw them a couple of times in Manchester (UK) in '66 (2 gigs at different venues in one night actually!), they were just amazing.

  17. Well I loved the stereo mix for years, but... did my ears did not know what they were missing! Prof, thank you for this amazing rip of a lovely clean sounding pressing - detailed, punchy and direct. On Blues With A Feeling, Bloomfield's guitar never sounded better for me... what quicksilver fingerwork. What a tight unit - superb musicianship - almost the perfect debut. The mono mix is much better - my go to version now. Thank you again ;)

  21. Blown away not just by the sound of the two Butterfield Band LPs you've tackled, but that the files are still available a decade later!

  22. You should get a medal for doing these. I just put this on today, both the mono mix and the Audio Fidelity SACD (which is stereo), and it's not even close for me - the mono mix is THE mix. The stereo mix reminds me of the stereo mixes done for the Rolling Stones' "Aftermath" and "Between the Buttons," especially when you have a guitarist that's panned way, way off to the side, and having that super wide spread dilutes the impact. It's a damn shame the mono mix has been locked up in a vault for probably 60 years now, so thank you so much for not just putting it out there in digital but making a superb transfer of it.
