  1. The same rip from 2010, but with a minor mastering correction.

  2. I've been listening to the V1.0 for ten years now, how time flies! What were the eq applied for? I think the v1.0 was damn good. Thank you dear Prof.

  8. ... is it Christmas already ? I can't thank you enough, Prof. Quick question, how does the 2018 Analogue Production (Bernie Grundman remaster) stand up to this 2010 Legacy vinyl ?

  9. I find Bernie's approach too hands off. George Marino nailed these 2010 Legacy editions. Truth is, the tapes need some work and Marino did it just right.

  10. You can hear the difference immediately in the guitar distortion in "EXP". It's doesn't have the usual bad mastering distortion and "Up From The Skies" comes in cleaner than I've heard before. George Marino is definitely one of those magic names that I always looked for on records when I was a kid.

  13. Another addition to my collection of Prof's Hendrix rips; as soon as I see your name it's an instant download for me - cheers Prof.

  14. Hey Prof., Speaking about Bernie Grundman mastering, his mastering has the bass intro to EXP panned to the right and not down the center. Did you ever hear his reasoning for this ?

  15. I seem to remember reading they remixed that one track?

  16. This has always been one of my all-time favorite albums. Thank you!

  22. See if you can make Axis Mono sound better!

  23. Hey Prof...Does your Axis "safety mix" need improving?

  28. There's always something to be said about an original vintage pressing transfered flat to high resolution digital audio, BUT if you're looking for the best-sounding version of a particular record, you've got to listen with your ears. This is a treat. Many thanks for your work, professor (and thanks for keeping it alive and fast and free to anyone who might be interested).

  29. This sounds so amazing, Prof! Thank you a lot! I could never really enjoy Hendrix on headphones before I found your versions, so I've got you to thank for making him one of my favorite artists.

I've got one little question though: You've got everything Hendrix ever released and then some on your site except for... mono Axis? I understand that requests aren't really allowed here, but do you ever plan on doing one?

Once again though, thanks so very much for all this hard work!

    ReplyDelete
  30. There is a good official version of the Axis mono straight from mastertape out there.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Looking forward to hearing the mono on this Cheers again Prof.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, do you ever think you'll do Band Of Gypsys or Loose Ends, or are there digital versions that are as good as can be done of those albums?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Axis, at long last, thanks professor...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thank you very much!

  35. Thanks, my first full-price album, bought at the age of 16 because the shortwave radio I wanted to buy was sold-out. Life's forking paths....

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hopefully soon you'll remix this. For now only the mono is listenable.

  37. One of the first Hendrix albums I ever owned way back in elementary school when it was released. Thank you for making it sound even better!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The mono version would be nice to hear too! Thanks for all your work and effort

    ReplyDelete
  39. This sounds AMAZING!!! Thank you so much Prof!…it is how I have always WANTED to hear this album sound. After being disappointed by multiple CD reissues, this blows me away!

    ReplyDelete
  40. It would be so nice to have both the stereo and the mono versions of the album. Nice job, as usual!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is sonically my favorite Hendrix album, and your treatment betters my best copy. Thank you!

  42. Truely a superior mix source and a vastly superior final sound ...experience. I only find some flaws on Spanish Castle Magic where Hendrix's voice is obviously muffled and not at appropriate level. Overall a great remastering achievement indeed. Now my question would be how close to this is the Vinyl LP source ? that is to begin with does it feature the very same stereo space ?
Thnx a lot for all your good work.
