What? My aim is to make rare stuff publicly available again with the best possible sound quality.
Hi Prof ..... can I be the first to congratulate you on another fine release here for us to get our ears into. Many thanks for your hard work in recompiling these.
Prof., Thanks for shining up a "turd" created by Sony into the diamond it should've been. Your "it's all in the details" approach created another "industry standard" if the industry had high standards.
Prof, thank you for putting together this excellent Byrds collection and including so many great Gene Clark songs. If you are looking for projects to undertake, check out the Clarkophile blog. They have proposed an excellent fantasy deluxe edition release of Gene Clark's Roadmaster and it looks right up your alley: http://clarkophile.blogspot.com/2021/08/how-id-create-deluxe-edition-of.html
It's always a delight to check your site and find that you've been busy! Many thanks for this compilation: I look forward to making a cup of coffee, playing this, and being transported by the Byrds ringing harmonies.
Terrific, thanks for this carefully assembled collection of the best sources! The best Byrds 45, though, is of course "Wasn't Born To Follow" from '68 ... ;)
Another great one! Thanks, Prof. Btw Track 9 (The Times They Are A-Changin') sounds exactly like the bonus track mono mix on Turn!Turn!Turn!. It is always given a recording date of 28th June 65, while here it says to come from 1st Sept 65...
I'm sure the late Byrds biographer Johnny Rogan would approve and appreciate this great work of art. Many thanks for the great improvement on the Sundazed effort
Thank you very much Prof, just loving the comp! I must admit that I don't know too much about the Byrds, so would it be allright if you quickly ran through the bonus tracks? Are they alternate takes released on early pressings of 45s acccidentally, rare mixes, etc? Hope it's not too much of a hassle. Best wishes, Justin.
Listening to this as I type. The Byrds always make me happy. "It Won't Be Wrong!" I have all the 90s Byrds CDs and this is a wonderful companion. Thank you so much!
Malwarebytes is blocking me. Malwarebytes says this site contains a Trojan, is this just them being overly cautious? I've downloaded stuff from this site before with no problems.
Prof - LONG time Byrds fan and collector. Also a longtime audio enthusiast and production community professional. I've been collecting 'unofficial' recordings of the Byrds for decades. In the early 1980s I had a commercially released cassette that had many of the non-released items in your collection. Your collection is superb - and I haven't even listened to it yet! Your other projects tell me the sound will be AWESOME. Thank you for your hard work and time spent on these projects. IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
Once again, thank you very much for your work. The only place you can currently hear the mono single mixes of these songs is either on an expensive Japanese box set or that atrociously mastered "The Original Singles" CD (which I recall sounding pretty bad on vinyl too). This is a definite upgrade.

ReplyDeleteThank you. I've lately found the stereo stuff to be pretty anemic. Thanks again.
