  4. Prof Stoned (& Hallucalation too), Thanks for putting to right what The Who "Continuum" has released as acceptable. Working on The Who can be a fulltime gig as you know and I just want you to know how much it is appreciated that you are working away in you "lab" to correct the what can only be recognized as laziness on the part of Astley's crew. ..Cheers !

  18. Thanks Prof. The difference between waiting for music you've bought online to arrive at your doorstep (vinyl or CD) and opening up your Prof Stoned page and seeing a 'new' work by you is this: YOU JUST KNOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE DISAPPOINTED! You do such a great job every single time and save not only me and fanatics like me, so many countless hours doing the trial and error and EXPENSE of getting the definitive versions. So much joy you give, and when things is this world are a tad crazy. Thanks so much.

  26. Thank you so much for this - another wonderful job done on some very precious material. Let's hope that the teased official 'refresh' will hit this high mark!

  27. Thanks Prof. this is great. There is only one thing here that should be done. All tracks except one (Substitute from 1970)should be phase corrected. If you want write to me on acid.captain@yahoo.com and we can discuss.I have done it and i can send you corrected files so you can check for yourself. Thanks again

    ReplyDelete
  28. You can't phase correct a single mono channel.

  29. Been listening to this one over the last week. This, as well as the Zeppelin BBC (and the Live in Japan compilation) are definitive. Thank you for all of your hard work. Can't wait to see what comes next!

  30. I want to Thank you but; I forgot "WHO" I am thanking you for. Who do I thank first. All kidding aside. I appreciate all of your hard work which I was introduced to with "Safe As Milk". So a big THANK YOU!!

  32. @"You can't phase correct a single mono channel."

Dear Prof, i know that, of course, i am not an amateur. But somewhere down the line of retaping this has most probably been retaped on some stereo machines, which created phase issue. Please do check for yourself. I am using iZotope RX 7 for that, which is very good tool.Or if you work in Adobe Audition, some older version was good for detecting phase issue, i think it was AA 3.
Or, as i have already told you, i can send few tracks (corrected) to you, so you can check for yourself.
    All the best
    Captain

  34. Many thanks for posting this PS, but seems to be a popular file - each time I try to download I am told that too many people have downloaded it recently. I'll keep trying!

  35. You have it? The BBC master that is, not the Odds n Sods one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thank you for your time and effort into this!

  37. Thank you for this updated release. It's great to see things like "Relax" which previously haven't circulated.

BTW, "My Way", from Oct. 10, 1967, is on the 2011 and 2015 reissues of Odds & Sods in the original mono mix, NOT the highly compressed stereo on the 1998 remix.

  38. "BTW, "My Way", from Oct. 10, 1967, is on the 2011 and 2015 reissues of Odds & Sods in the original mono mix"

Uh...no. It's an original stereo mix...plain as day.

    ReplyDelete

    1. That version, however, is different from the one released on the 1998 Odds&Sods CD. The same take, I assume, but different mix and mastering.

    2. The 2011 Japanese SHM CD edition and the 2015 HD Tracks download of Odds & Sods both feature an earlier dry stereo mix of My Way with double-tracked vocals nicely separated into both channels WITHOUT the massive echoapplied later in the process. The echoed version appears on 1998 Odds & Sods CD.

  42. Thanks, this is great! There was a BBC Radio One show in 1974 called Who's Who. During that show, they played a completely different version of Dancing In The Street which was sadly only 1m 11s long. Radio 6 occasionally retransmits it https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bcw5v6. I wondered if you had considered including that alternate BBC version?

  60. Great collection. Much better than the official releases.
I have a question regarding a bootleg called New Years Eve on the Fire Power label. It has the following: Tracks 1-2: BBC Television Centre, London "Lulu" TV Show, Wednesday,
    December 30, 1970
Tracks 3-13: BBC 1 Top Of The Pops Into 71, broadcast on December 31, 1970.
Recording: BBC Television & Sound board.

I am wondering why these were not included?

Thanks again for all your great works.
