  1. Wow! Wasn't expecting this! I was actually listening to your BBC Floyd when I saw this. If it's of a similar standard, it'll be amazing! Thanks.... that's this evening sorted out!

  9. Dear Prof Stoned,
After a picky listening of that album I'm very fond of, there are tears in my eyes.
Such a beautiful music deserved your skills and you made it great.
Many thanks for this and for all the work you do.
I'm afraid you put to shame many sound engineers having an access to the master tapes and unable to provide a sound and sound stage (Be it mono or stereo) you do achieve.
    And for free !
There are no ways for me to congratulate you enough, so it will be a simple and sincere Thank You, again.

    Best regards.

  17. Thanks Prof.
Sheer outer space spatial resolution solutions!
I'm hoping still that you will put your talents to the test by looking at Roger 'Syd' Barrett's solo works. His albums are legendary for their hastily and badly 'mastered' nature.
    Many thanks

    1. IMHO a new band needs to be recorded for these albums. Jerry Shirley ruins every song he touches. Erase everything but Syd and start anew

  19. And just posted on my birthday! What a present! Thank you so much! Why Interstellar Overdrive was not included in the Early Years box remains a mystery. It is so good!

  32. Very impressed with your upgrade, I have had a copy of these tracks for a while, but this sounds like a different recording altogether. Any chance you could work your magic on 'Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends' ELP's live lp, great playing but sounds like a rough bootleg. many thanks

  36. David Gilmore is quite dismissive of this period which he described as "psychedelic noodling" but I love it. The bootlegs show a group playing songs differently every night. Sometimes it takes off and sometimes it doesn't. Such experimentation vanished with DSotM.
Of course I've heard these before but welcome the improved mix. It's odd that the "missing" 5th track wasn't added to the listing when the album was officially reissued. There's room for it on the CD, after all.
I've read that the origin of the 5th track originated from a break in at John Peel's house. He was an early champion of the band and they gave him a record containing only that track. This was apparently amongst the items stolen. Not sure if that's true. He must have had 10s of thousands of records and how would they know which ones to nick?

    1. It just goes to show that Pink Floyd would have gone absolutely nowhere if Gilmour had been the bandleader from 1968 on, instead of Waters.

    2. Regarding Interstellar, I see why this didn't make the album. It wanders around and isn't very cohesive. Nothing like the sonic masterpiece it became by 71.

  40. Weren't these songs initially only circulated as MP3, and Yellow Cow used that source for their disc? Did you find a non-lossy source? Looking forward to the work you did on these!

  44. Thanks, Prof., for taking on 'Careful With These Tracks'. This is a great improvement in the sound quality of this RoIO, even on track 5 with all its flaws.

  47. Thank you so much for your effprts on these and other Floyd tracks - much appreciated! I love this period - the band stretching out and making mistakes in an enjoyable way as they try to find a way forward. Of any period, this is the one I wish I'd seen them live!! Instead I got the 80s/90s!! Best. Paul
