Thank you for the extra's as well! Recorded at Golden State Recorders, Owner and Engineer Leo De Gar Kulka. I was there from 1979 - 1980. Leo ran the CRA - College for recording Arts at the studio. His stories about recording and mixing some of the hottest bay area bands from the '60's and '70's were entertaining to say the least. Hi. I have a quarter and I'd like to buy a clue. I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I always got the impression that Happy Trails was by and large a live album, so it'll be interesting to see if it was in fact a studio/live hybrid and if this will be made up of live, studio, or both. See? I'm so confused. That's why I make a point of carrying a pocket full of quarters. In any event, thanks for this and all the rest. Hope this finds you and all readers well.

Knowing every note and audio artifact of the original release for over 50 years, this is a revelation! I especially enjoy how you were able to bring John Cipollina's guitar to a more prominent place in the mix. Thank you so much for this.
I always felt that this album was the one to beat that came out of the "San Francisco scene" It warms my memory to know that you want to "turn us on" to it. Thanks for your special touch in both the Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Oh my God, what a find (calvary) - I listened to this album for more than 55years, maybe thousand times. But the mix is so different, so clear - John's & Gary's guitars - can't stop listening. Very much appreciated.

Magical - your work is so special, Prof. I can't wait to hear the guitar separation - Happy Trails was seminal for me. As as a callow youngster back in '73 I first began to learn lead guitar by attempting to work out both Duncan and Cipollina's gtr parts on this. Being a real guitar novice, for the life of me I couldn't figure out how Cipollina made the notes 'shimmy', so I was forced to develop an insane multi finger vibrato as a poor substitute for what I later discovered was, of course, his Bigsby. It made figuring out other normal finger vibratos so much easier, lol.
Thanks so much. Looking forward to this, still one of my favorite albums all-time. Many years ago (before the internet got full of stalkers and musicians still replied to strangers) I got Gary Duncan's email somehow and asked him if he knew which shows the Happy Trails tracks are from. He said "Man, when we got home from that tour we were lucky we could even FIND the tapes, much less remember where we recorded them."
A series of concerts I've always regretted missing but that was being 12 years old and stuck in England for you. Still maybe with this im a few yards closer too 'being there' Lovely sound
